From behind the lines, Lord Duncombe looked at the ruin that still stood as an affront to him. The two assaults had not managed to successfully penetrate the fortress and chase away its defenders. But many of its defenders had died, and their numbers were slowly going down every day. The barrage of both conventional and magical artillery was slowly turning the keep to a pile of rubble. He would crush Wraithkeep and all inside if he had to. Still, Lord Duncombe was displeased to be able to see that the keep still held against two solid assaults.
He has heard news about reinforcements coming from Fennelmore. More troops should allow him to finally break the Iuzians hold on the Duchy.
He had received with displeasure the news that Lucius Grakon had managed to escape. He left behind him a number of dead demons, demons who would no longer threaten his flanks.
Lord Duncombe began to doubt the wisdom of his invasion. The populace had not welcomed them as liberators nor did he find much of the supplies he had hoped to liberate.
Still, with his invasion of Artonsamay, he has assured his daughters throne. Duke Gellor had signed a document wherein he renounced all claims to the Countys throne. His family was finally secure on the throne. The baby his daughter now carried would cement the takeover of House Duncombe.
